UPDATE: 1960 Eagles via TTM

Typically my TTM projects are focused on Phillies teams of the past, but one recent project has involved the team to win the last NFL Championship for Philadelphia - the 1960 Eagles.  Over the past three to four months I have been faithfully mailing a photo of the 1960 NFL Championship Game program cover to members of the Eagles team that played that season, with great success...

The project actually started a few years ago after I bought the photo on eBay, and mailed it to Hall of Famer, Chuck Bednarik.  He signed it with a "HOF 67" inscription.  But, other priorities kept me from getting it out to other members, at the time.  It wasn't until last Winter I decided it was now or never for the project and started writing to some of the other guys.  A decision reinforced by Bednarik's passing in March.  Now IS the time to finish this up!

Over that time I have really enjoyed using the autograph project as a way to learn about both the individual players, and the 1960 Eagles.  It has been fun to discover nicknames such as "Drought-Breaker" (Theron Sapp) and "The Baron" (Pete Retzlaff) - or, that linebacker Maxie Baughan is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame as a result of his time at Georgia Tech.  Being born more than a decade after these guys retired, I never knew more than a name on the roster (for many).  Taking time to read up on their careers and make note of certain achievements has brought history to life!

Though the guys from the 1960 Eagles are at, or approaching advanced ages - from my experiences, they have been very willing to honor autograph requests and remember their glory days in Philadelphia.  I am grateful that they are helping me learn more about the team's history along the way, too...
