Phillies Tease Bowa Bobble Head
2015 Phillies - Larry Bowa Bobble Head SGA
With little fanfare the Phillies released the first look at their upcoming Larry Bowa Bobble Head SGA via Phillies.com.
The figurine, which will be given away on August 18th, is the first "alumni" bobble head to be given away by the team since Bowa was honored late in the 2001 season. As I wrote a few months ago, in an exclusive interview with The Phillies Collector, Phillies Director of Merchandising Scott Brandreth revealed the Phillies legend would be featured in the promotion - even going as far as saying he planned to release two versions: one batting left-handed and a right-handed variant.
In a odd photo of the bobble on the online promotional schedule, collectors can now see Bowa standing in the left-handed batter's box, wearing the vintage home maroon/white pinstriped uniform. The picture is shot from behind the batter - leaving a lot to the imagination. Visible details show Bo crouched, choking up on the bat waiting for a pitch...
