Flyers Oddballs - 1971-72 Mighty Milk
During the 1971-72 season Mighty Milk released a regional set of seven Flyers player cards on the side panel of their milk cartons. The set's rareness combined with the inclusion of a few key members of the eventual Stanley Cup Champions make it both popular with collectors and valuable.
When cut from the panel, cards measure approximately 3 5/8"x7.5". Each features a sketched head-shot of the player, with a brief biography in a rounded-square frame. Above the frame is the title, "Philadelphia Hockey Star" and the player's name. Below the frame are advertisements for Mighty Milk and Channel 29. All lettering and graphics are light blue.
Because the cards were cut from the carton, condition can be an issue. As with other hand-clipped releases you frequently find uneven borders, which negatively impact value. Clean singles sell in the $50-75 range.
