Auction Watch: 2015 Phillies Phantastic Auction
By now you've probably heard ads for the 2015 Phillies Phantastic Auction: "A private dining experience with Mike Schmidt; batting lessons from Chase Utley; lunch with Ryne Sandberg!" Back for another season, the auction, which benefits Phillies Charities, Inc., is packed with one-in-a-lifetime opportunities. And, it's not just unique experiences, many of the 50 lots up for bid this year also have interest for Phillies collectors, including autographed Wall of Fame baseballs and a set of jerseys signed by Phillies Hall of Famers. Here are a few you'll want to keep an eye on...
Set of Five, Individually Signed Phillies Hall of Fame Jerseys
A nice lot of Mitchell & Ness replica jerseys signed by Phillies Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Jim Bunning, Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts. The fact that Ashburn and Roberts have been gone for several years, their jersey's in particular have begun to increase in value. Also of note is that Ashburn added a rare Hall of Fame inscription, too. $250 apiece may be a little steep for the collection, but hey, it's for charity... See the lot.
Display of Signed Phillies Wall of Fame Baseballs
Plain and simple: These baseballs are great. Signed by Phillies legends, and not available unsigned, the team has created a very desirable collectible with this line of specialty baseballs. In this lot the winner receives 16 signed WoF balls, including Curt Schilling (which I have not previously seen available). Additionally, they will throw in a display case making it ready to put up on the wall immediately. The current high bid of $1000 equates to an average cost of $62.50 per ball. See the lot.
2008 Phillies Autographed Bat Lot
Cool lot of nine individually signed bats from members of the 2008 World Series Champions. The bats include one from each starting position player and World Series MVP Cole Hamels. Great get for some lucky collector... See the lot.
